The Seeking a just, inclusive, and sustainable world that works for all
**** ****
**** | The work of the PCDForum centers on movement building through support of other organizations, networks, and initiatives. There are as many ways of becoming involved in the movement as there are people in the world. If you wish to become involved or to expand your contacts with like minded groups in your community the best way to get started is to watch in public places for notices of meetings and presentations on issues that are aligned with your values. Generally this will led to meeting dozens of wonderful, like minded people from your own community. There are also organizations that take it as part of their mission to help others connect their energies with positive initiatives building a foundation for transformative change. One such organization is the Positive Futures Network (PFN), which was formed with the assistance of the PCDForum to, among other things, serve those interested connecting to individuals, organizations, and movements dedicated to values and objectives similar to those of the PCDForum. The PFN publishes a quarterly journal, YES! A Journal of Positive Futures, to which many of leading intellectual-activists associated with the PCDForum are regular contributors. Especially if you live in the United States you will find YES! and its related web site an invaluable guide to organizations and website that will in turn lead you to many other groups. YES! also has an active internship program and many opportunities for volunteers. The executive editor of YES! is Sarah van Gelder, a PCDForum contributing editor. David Korten, president of the PCDForum, is board chair, and Frances Korten is executive director. If you live outside the United States you might begin a search for like minded organizations in your region with the website of the Association for Progressive Communication. The APC is an association of regional and national organizations providing web services for progressive organizations. It thus serves as a portal for many hundreds of progressive groups. Start with any group based in your part of the world that seems aligned with your interests and then follow its links to yet others until you find a group that looks right for you. Other Resources leads to a number of organizations, media resources, and web links. When Corporations Rule the World, second edition, refers to a number of the organizations that have leading roles in organizing the resistance to corporate globalization. Chapter 14, "Engaging the Future," in The Post-Corporate World: Life After Capitalism provides a guide to many organization and resources for those interested in becoming involved in the movements with which the PCDForum is aligned. These books are available from all major book sellers or may be ordered directly from either of their co-publishers: Kumarian Press and Berrett-Koehler Publishers. The PCDForum has a very small, purely volunteer staff. It does not produce a newsletter or maintain a general mailing list or membership. It is unable to respond to individual requests for information or research support, has no paid staff positions, does not offer internships, and does not make grants. Persons who contact us requesting information on the Forum or asking to be placed on a mailing list are referred back to this web site, our major book publications When Corporations Rule the World and The Post-Corporate World: Life After Capitalism, or to the Positive Futures Network. |
